Input Logic Touches Grass, and Surfs a Bit Too?
Every summer, we close the laptops and go somewhere together. This year: Tofino. Four days camping at Surf Grove, right on the edge of the Pacific.
The vibe? Touch grass. No laptops. No Slack. Just four days of actually being outside.
The plan was gloriously unserious. Brunch dropped at camp every morning. Surf lessons for the brave, beach walks for the self-described wimps. Kayak crews heading out into the evening. A sauna on rotation. And, because the timing was perfect, the World Cup playing in the background, kicking off with France vs. Spain at a Port Alberni brewery on the drive in.
Dinner was a rotating cast of Tofino greats: pizza, tacos, poke, hotdogs and roasted marshmallows over the fire, and whatever the food truck was slinging. Tents, coolers, camp chairs. And a collective prayer to the Tofino weather gods for sunshine.
The Making of the Merch
But a summit isn't a summit without the swag. And good swag needs a concept, not just a shopping list.
So we did what we always do. Opened a group chat and started getting weird. The brief, roughly: gather some inspiration, land on a theme, an illustration style, a typography direction. Get a little strange, sure. Just keep it wearable for everyone. Last year's “In Rhythm with Nature” set the bar.
Plenty of ideas got thrown around. What stuck was the most on-brand thing imaginable for a team heading off-grid: Touch Grass. Gently ironic, fully sincere, and perfect for four days of no notifications.
Bringing It to Life
So we ran with it. Groovy ’90s lettering, hand-drawn daisies, and a little snail who quietly became the star of the whole collection.
The Final Collection
Then the pieces came together. Sling bags in a mix of colours (black, white, blue, a greyish brown, and one shade someone insisted on calling “vomit”). Tie-dye tees with the snail on the chest and a big flowery “Touch Grass” across the back. A black bucket hat with the snail embroidered on the front. Waterproof stickers, obviously. And a stack of patches: the wordmark, a daisy, the snail, and an “Input Summer Summit 2026, Tofino BC” seal.
We are a very serious product studio.
We kept it local, too. Screen printing through a friend of the team, embroidery from a shop up in Nanaimo.
Touching the Grass
Then we actually had to wear all this stuff somewhere. Cue the surfing, the kayaking, the eating suspiciously well for people camping, the long nights around the fire, and not a single laptop opened.
Conversations drift to the truly important topics - favourite Youtube videos from back home, the pros and cons of owning a One Wheel, and deciding what to bring to the picnic (iykyk). After a busy year, the whole point was making sure everyone actually got to switch off, hang out, and get to know each other a little better.
We rolled home sunburnt, a little wrecked, and fully kitted out.
Turns out we'll happily debate the details of pretty much anything. An app, an interaction, the exact groove of a "Touch Grass" wordmark. Occupational hazard.
That's kind of the point of these trips. We like making things together. We like having opinions about them. And we like each other enough to spend four days at the beach arguing about a cartoon snail.
The same energy comes back to work with us. Care about the details. Make something good. Have some fun doing it.
Touch grass. Make things. Wear the hat.
